In the 2-pager, we identify major challenges and successes of Horizon Europe. We also highlight that FP10 should focus on serving the European society by finding the right balance between blue sky research, application and societal impact, addressing urgent challenges such as climate change and fostering inclusive digital and green transitions. Universities of Applied Sciences have a key role in facilitating the innovation capacity of SMEs and industries in regional innovation ecosystems. Fostering talent that integrates the different roles of researcher, innovator, change agent and professional is a key aspect of a new European Framework Programme.
